Foothill Notes 1

The first edition of Foothill Notes was a one-day event on December 17, 2022. It was attended by Manipur-based poet and translator Robin Ngangom, Shillong-based novelist Dhruba Hazarika, Gangtok-based writer of fiction and non-fiction Dr. Satyadeep Chhetri and Sikkim’s short-story writer Ashim Basnet, among many others. One of the highlights of the meet was a discussion on the art of writing by Dr. Chhetri, who is also member of the core organising committee. In a session with Dr. Laxmi Rai of Sikkim Government College, Namchi, Robin Ngangom and Dhruba Hazarika discussed at length the uniqueness of writings from the Northeast. There were several reading sessions by local authors such as Tshering Namgyal Bhutia, Eunice Subba, Denmit Lepcha, Ranesh Rai, Adarsh Tamang and Sagar Sharma.
